Winter -- Time to Get Cozy
Happy Holidays to all. Whether you're knee deep in snow or mud, winter has definitely arrived. If your herd produced gray cria during the fall, don't forget to add those little beauties to the database in between wrapping gifts, baking, shopping, and addressing cards!

This time of year, the alpacas' fleece begins to blossom and those skinny necks from spring shearing have become covered with warm, long, dense fleece. ((Has anyone thought of creating a 'cria-pet' to add to the Chia-Pet collection?))

In cold weather states, alpaca products should be flying off the shelves. In spite of the sour economy, folks will spend money on quality items, and alpaca yarn, scarves, gloves, sweaters, capes, hats, socks, blankets, and rugs are among the more appreciated holiday gifts.

In the spirit of the season, all of us at GrayAlpacaCentral.com wish you and yours the best and thank you for your continued interest and contributions to the database. We want to be your first resource for everything gray. So please contact any of the Sponsor Farms with suggestions to make our site better.

Let's look forward to a prosperous New Year (pleeeze) for all.

THANK YOU!
The 5 Sponsor Farms of GrayAlpacaCentral.com wish to thank everyone who has visited our site, registered and entered their gray alpacas. We hope you'll encourage breeders you know who have gray huacayas and suris to add to the database.

SPREAD THE WORD! If you like what you see please tell every gray breeder you know about GrayAlpacaCentral.com.

GrayAlpacaCentral.com
A website devoted to defining
the color genetics
of the gray alpaca.

It never fails...

Get a small group of alpaca breeders together, or join an online alpaca forum and you will eventually get a "lively discussion" about what gray alpacas are...or are not.

A common problem with most of these discussions is that alpaca breeders are often not discussing the same thing. There is more than one well defined pattern of gray that produce like offspring. There are also many alpacas registered or shown as gray that are neither out of gray parents nor produce gray offspring.

So what are gray alpacas?

This website is devoted to providing an answer.

The centerpiece of GrayAlpacaCentral is its unique pictorial database. In this database you will see pictures of every alpaca entered, as well as pictures of that alpaca's family tree. With this tool breeders can follow the get and produce of any entered alpaca, and their sire, dam, and siblings as well.

Our forum will allow lively discussion on any "gray" topic. These discussions can easily reference the pictorial database to minimize confusion. Position and research papers on gray color genetics are also available to enlighten and discuss.

Participation in the database and forum is FREE!

How to Participate:

1.  If you have a gray or gray related alpaca you'd like to enter in the Database, click on "Interactive Database" and "Add an Alpaca", and follow the instructions to register.
2.  Once you have registered, you can also add alpacas to Grays For Sale, Studs for Hire, participate in the Forum, and submit ads for your farm/alpacas.
3.  Participation is free, and anyone can search the Database without registering.
4.  If you would like to have access to the Forum, click on "Register" the first time you visit.

We invite you to add as much information as possible about every gray alpaca and its relatives that you own to the database. Get on-line exposure for your breeding program, and add to the color genetics knowledge of the alpaca community.

Enjoy!
