ALPINE ALPACAS - Nancy and  Don Lake

ALWAYS GRAY, ALWAYS ALPINE ALPACAS!
It's amazing this year we are celebrating our 10th Anniversary in the alpaca industry, breeding for gray. Time has gone by very quickly since we have been part of this unique industry, and we look forward to many more years of growth and rewards!  We began our alpaca journey in Colorado and now are settled in Maryland, conveniently located 5 minutes off I-70 and within an hour of the Washington DC/Baltimore corridor.

After years of breeding up for improved fleece quality and cementing gray color genetics into various bloodlines, we are now seeing more and more elite grays. Alpine Alpacas has many quality foundation gray females and males for sale at this time, and as always we believe in full disclosure on every alpaca we sell. We have learned a lot about the challenges of breeding for gray over the years, and we will happily share our experiences with anyone who is interested.

We specialize in quality silver and now rose grays. VIDEOS of our alpacas are available by e-mail. Send a request to Nancy, info@alpinealpaca.com, and a short video will be sent back by e-mail along with a list of positive/negative traits on the alpaca you are interested in. A large percentage of our sales are nationwide, and support is always a phone call away.  ALPINE ALPACAS also specializes in service for first-time buyers. We are always available 24/7 for consultation.

CHERRY RUN FARM - Beth and Jeff Hull

"COME SEE WHAT IS GROWING"
Cherry Run Farm is nestled directly on the Mason Dixon line where it separates South Central Pennsylvania from scenic Western Maryland. While the farm itself is very historical in nature, it is home to the area's most up and coming alpaca and conifer tree farm. Cherry Run Farm, under the direction of the Hull family, is built on the mission of providing a quality product through the development of the finest resources available.

In an effort to accomplish this mission, Cherry Run Farm has worked to build a foundation herd that is comprised of some of the most elite gray huacaya blood lines available in the country. When it comes to breeding, the Hulls have worked to be sure that these females are partnered to the highest quality sires around. It is this thought process that Cherry Run Farm believes will form the basis of providing and successfully accomplishing their mission for the alpaca side of the farming operation. Cherry Run is focused on customer service and support. Please stop by our farm and "come see what is growing".

A PACA FUN FARM - Neil, Jo and Bari Padgett

Though our farm byline is "Breeding Generations of Excellence" it might as well be "Creating a herd of gray and black alpacas the quality of white".When we started breeding in 1999 grays were few and far between. Black and gray fleeces were clearly inferior to white. Through the efforts of many breeders across the country this is no longer the case.

At A Paca Fun Farm, unlike many farms that bred gray to fawn or white, we sought to improve gray by breeding together the best individual male and female tuxedo grays we could find. Our goal was to not only improve the fleeces of individual gray alpacas, but to also consistently produce a herd of high quality gray alpacas. Over the years we have produced our own superior gray and black alpacas, and blended in unique and superior alpacas produced by like minded breeders from across the country.

The results of this program have been...........Outstanding!!

Not only do we consistently produce gray 75 to 80% of the time when we breed for it, those grays are remarkable for their consistent high quality. For example, of the first 10 cria shown out of one of our herdsires, Silver Legend of KPR, 5 have bannered in AOBA shows at least once, 8 have blue ribboned at least once, and all have ribboned to at least 3rd place. This level of success extends to our entire herd. A Paca Fun Farm is (at the time of this writing) the first and only farm in the history of the AOBA show system to sweep gray banners in a show (champion and reserve, male and female. Virginia Classic 2008).

Looking to the future we will be partnering with select breeders who want to move their herds to this level of consistent quality. Acreage limitation restrict the size of our herd. To continue to the goals of our breeding program we are willing to sell packages of females from our core breeding herd, bred to Silver Legend or any of our restricted herdsires. We will ensure the business success of these select breeders by guaranteeing the repurchase of a female cria produced from this package of bred females.

ALPACA ANNUALS - Susan and Scott Mikulecky

The first cria I ever saw was a brand new-bouncing, tuxedo gray and from that point on, I was hooked. I fell in love with the grays and appreciate how each and every one is special with their variety of shades and different markings. It has been such fun to pick and choose breedings then wait for the "surprise" almost a year later. We have been in the business since 2003 and have bred award winning alpacas from diverse gray bloodlines. We have concentrated on breeding grays together to keep the color and still improve the fiber.  I am amazed at how far the gray fleeces have come in just a few short years. Since the grays  have  so many individual colorings, we hope you enjoy this site and find the pictoral database useful as well as fun to browse!

We are located on 40 acres half way between Denver and Colorado Springs  and at 7500 feet it is a great climate for alpacas to live and play. Come visit and see for yourself how unique and beautiful the grays are!   Give us a call or drop us an email, we would love to hear from you!

BLUEGENES ALPACA RANCH - Nancy Barkoviak and J.C. Williamson

ISN'T IT TIME FOR A NEW PAIR OF GENES?
At BlueGenes Alpaca Ranch near Gaithersburg, Maryland, our goal has always been to produce the best possible silver gray alpacas we can, and the fact that our first sale was to A.L. Pacas' Farms tells us we're doing it right.

Small Farm. Big Ideas.
Because our herd is small, we take extra time to research herd sires in detail in order to match and improve specific qualities of our dams. That way, we hope to improve each new generation of grays. Of course, along the way we've also had some very nice black alpacas. Committed to careful examination of genetics, we are working hard to have a foundation herd consistently producing quality grays.

Whether a first-time buyer or an experienced breeder, when you purchase an alpaca or alpaca breeding from  BlueGenes, you can be assured of our complete support. Isn't it time for a new pair of genes? Give us a call or email to schedule a visit.
